Memorable trip to Bristol
Dropping my windlass in the lock coming out of bath should have been an omen of things to come although we did retrieve it with our magnet along with a spare. All was going well with myself driving the boat. Coming up to a lock,I steered the boat under some overhanging trees only to find it was thick branches and not wispy twigs, off came the chimney, the bbq got swept along the roof losing some of it in the river and the grand finale was my bike literally got scooped up by a branch and tossed into the river sinking without a trace, unfortunately this all happened just outside Saltford marina and attracted quite a bit of attention. Not a good day.
Great mooring in Bristol, met up with Marks son and girlfriend and had a very boozy night out.Next day visited the M Shed,a museum with a difference, they were exhibiting a brilliant knitted version of Bristol called Briswool well worth a look and would def go back, had a wander round the city visited the Markets and tried the street food.Left Sat lunchtime, down to Hanham lock where we met up with my sister in law Sue and her husband John, lovely meal in the pub and they left today. We will stay here tonight then back to beautiful bath tomorrow ...x Louise

Visit to a gin distillery
Having been given a gin distillery tour for Christmas by my eldest daughter and fiancé, We booked up, took a train and bus to Thornbury, just outside Bristol, it was really interesting with lots of tastings, and having promised ourselves we wouldn't buy anything we purchased 2 beautiful balloon gin glasses, a bottle of Slider ( mix of gin and cider ) and a bottle of their artisan 6 o'clock gin.
I managed to get Mark to colour my hair, not once did he ask me if I was going on holiday or give me a selection of magazines to read, and he likened the brushing on of the dye to greasing up an old piece of machinery, they've never said that at my salon !
We've come back to beautiful Bradford on Avon today the weather is fabulous but the canal was really busy loads of hire boats out and we were were lucky enough to get a great mooring where we are now, nice curry for tea and a few beers heading to Bristol tomorrow.

Alternator finally arrived
Another beautiful day in Bath, went into town to get a new seat for my bike and Mark an inner tube for his, had the obligatory coffee and sat in the sun and people watched ( such a great past time). Mark came back to the boat to fit the alternator ( I did offer ) and I went to Debenhams just to browse of course. Had our evening meal( cooked by Mark) Al fresco with a couple of beers, just having the one g&t before bed, life is good 😊.
Just read this back to myself and it seems Mark has done everything today and I've just done girlie shopping, which is in fact true, Sorry Mark 😘

Lovely Bath
We are holed up in Bath waiting a part for the boat ( could think of worst places ). The weather has been dreadful with constant rain, although it has been very warm and it has not stopped us getting out and about exploring this beautiful city. One of our outings was a trip to the launderette, first time in many years, and as the photo shows some Japanese tourists stood and stared in at us through the window could think of better attractions in Bath and I would be looking for a refund from the tour company if I was them. Hope the engine part doesn't turn up yet I love it here 😊
Unbelievable!....pt1

Bradford on Avon
Well I can honestly say this is a one of the most beautiful towns I have been to. I admit the glorious weather helped along with the very friendly boaters met a nice group from Canada and a couple doing exactly what we are doing but are a year ahead of us. The town is so pretty it seemed to be made up of tea shops, pubs and charity shops .. Right up our street. We stayed 2 days and we moored up last night near Freshford. This stretch of the K&A is just stunning and I drove the boat over my first aqueduct( with no dramas ). We fired up the BBQ last night, good food a few beers, not much more we need really 🙂

Caen hill flight !
Well having left Pewsey we have chugged down the K&A to Devizes, an overnight stop on the outskirts then the challenge, 28 locks in succession was hard going we had the odd help here and there and a lot of gongoozlers (bystanders) It took us about about 4 hours to do all the locks and we moored up last night at the bottom of the flight, and promptly fell asleep watching a video, sorry no pics have got a problem uploading hopefully sort that soon ...
